The Progressive Pathway
Our system uses small-sided games, such as 5v5 and 8v8, as a Progressive Learning Plan to align with the physical, cognitive, and technical growth of young footballers. This structured pathway maximizes:

- Skill acquisition and cognitive development. Players get more touches and decision-making opportunities, accelerating their skill development.
- Simplified concepts. Younger players need simplified environments to grasp tactical concepts before moving to full-sided play. For example, the 8v8 format for U12/U14 is key for teaching tactical concepts like using the width and depth of the field, defensive shapes, and preparing them for the transition to 11v11.
- Encouraging success. Frequent success in these adapted games boosts self-esteem and enhances teamwork and communication. The goal is a step-by-step learning process of skills, tactics, and individual and team fundamentals.
Cultivating a Culture of Respect and Dignity
To the parents, coaches, and spectators: we are committed to providing a Strong Learning Environment that is defined by dignity and respect.
We focus on the player, giving them the opportunity to solve game problems by themselves. Our coaches provide stimulating feedback and encourage players to make their own decisions, nurturing their growth through experience.
We want to prevent the frustration and dropout caused by over-emphasis on winning.
The DYL demands that our community models respect for the effort of the opponent, the rules of the game, and the decisions of the referee. Competition should be a dynamic challenge of skill and adaptability, not a display of poor behavior. Our ultimate aim is long-term Retention and Enjoyment, preventing burnout and nurturing a lifelong passion for the game.
Join the Movement: Your Kick is Our Mission
We are calling on all players, parents, and clubs across the Philippines to join the DYL, a league that provides a structured, progressive path aligned with the PFF Grassroots Program.
The DYL’s Pledge is Clear: We are committed to developing players through a deep understanding of the game—building tactical intelligence, continuous skill progression, and a powerful sense of camaraderie.
By respecting the process, the rules, and one another, we ensure that every player is treated with dignity and gets the Right to Play as a Child and the Right Not to Become a Champion at too young an age. We create an environment where every player is a main actor.
Let’s work together to redefine football in the Philippines. We are leading the way by placing development and respect at the heart of competition.
Let the journey begin. The First Kick Starts Here.
